Unlikely urban projects
Urban improvement projects invert the usual balance of power between the city and
nature: the forest becomes pervasive where it is usually in-existent or in the background,
the savanna covers concrete slabs, buildings are reflected in ponds.
This new balance of power is illustrated by images mixing photography and painting:
significant elements of urban space (interchanges, bridges, crossroads, tower blocks)
are photographed and inserted into picturesque and idyllic landscapes. The marriage of
the two worlds gives birth to an alternative reality, neither city, nor nature, a critical
reality intended to stimulate the imagination.
Advertising: to reinforce the utopia
The use of advertising is intended to give credibility to the incredible, and give
life to the unreal through an omnipresent and all-powerful vector of communication.
